Spread over 40 hectares of land, Ballarat Botanical Gardens is split into three distinct zones; the central Botanical Gardens preserving the Victorian pleasure garden’s ’gardenesque’ style, and the North and South Gardens showcasing an open parkland style. These gardens are popular with tourists and locals thanks to its wonderful display of trees, statues and colourful beds of flowers.
You could wander around the grounds for hours learning about the history of these gardens, which has been in the region since 1858. In addition to the vibrant flora and fauna, the gardens feature Prime Ministers Avenue; a collection of bronze portraits showcasing our Australian leaders surrounded by beautiful greenery. This is a botanical garden like no other and a must-see when in the area.
